Thnksgiving Week

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.  For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. Psalms 95:2-3.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalms 100:4

These verses are what we are focusing on for this week. We are talking about thanksgiving. We are touching on what we are thankful for, on what it means to be thankful for, why we should be thankful. We are also touching on the 1st Thanksgiving. Also, we are studying the continent AFRICA!!! I am excited about this study because we are going to touch on where life first started and the holiday Kwanzaa.

Its' going to be a great week.

Rainsticks and South America

So this week we have been studying South America. We have been learning about the people of South America and the continent as a whole. We have learned about where coffee, chocolate, and other wonderful foods we eat. We have had a lot of fun.
We also learned about the rainforest in South America. The kiddos made some rainsticks to mimic the sound of rain that falls in the rainforest. Here are some pictures of this week.

No blog for this week

This week there are no blogs or posts. The reason why is because we had no school this week. This week my grandmother suffered from a stroke. Because she had a stroke, myself and the kids had to come and sit with her at the hospital. Actually, she is in the hospital and I am sitting with her right now as I am writing this. Therefore there have been no post or school for the week. We will reconvene school next week. So for now, be blessed, enjoy your week, and hug your loved ones. Life on earth is precious and gone in an instant.

Week 11

So this week has been busy. I had to get a new computer and have not been able to post for a while, so, now that Ive gotten my new computer, I am back. Last week Tater worked on plants and living things in science. We went on a plant walk where we gathered different leaves and tried to classify our leaves/treesin our neighborhood. After we finished, we made Autumn Wreaths. We hadsuch a fun time being out in the area. Here's a picture of our wreaths. Taters and Jr Bugs.

We also leaned that all living things need food, water, air, shelter, and sunshine. Since we were learning about plants this week, we made a flower with the petals spelling out what we need to live. It was an awesome art/science project. Here's a picture.

In social studies we were/are learning about maps. So we expanded that lesson to include Me on A Map.Tater learned about how she fits into her house. Ho her house is in a city, a state, a country, a continent, and finally earth. She had so much fun with this lesson.
Tater also worked on subtraction, her Biblical lessons on Moses, and learning about punctuation. Stay tuned for next adventures in The Vine Academy.
