Goodbye 2014 Hello 2015

So its week 13 here. We've had a busy week of learning how to care for environment. At the end of the week we took a field trip to our local recycling plant and practiced recycling and sorting. The kids had a lot of fun at the plant and really mastered learning about recycling. We also finished our calendar for the 2014 year. We brought in the new year. So new learning and new smiles.
This has been a long and crazy week, complete with temper tantrums and groundings. Here's to hoping 2015 will bring new cheer.
Happy New Year to you all!!

Throwing away trash.
Tater finally reading her assignment by herself!
Recycling paper
Taters caring for the environment poster.
Recycling plastic.
We have finished the 2014 year. Goodbye 2014.

Christmas Week

So for Christmas we discussed why we as a family celebrate Christmas. We talkies about the birth of our Savior. We talked about how God loved us so much that He brought Jesus to us. We discussed the important players of the Christmas story... Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, the Wise Men, the angels, and of course Jesus. We discussed how they are important and what role they played in the most important story known to man.
We also discussed the candy cane. Tater and Jr Bug both get candy canes for Christmas. We talked about how the candy canes can point us to Christ. How the cane is shaped like a J for Jesus. How the red symbolizes His blood shed for us, and the white symbolizes His purity. We also discussed how the the cane looks like a shepherds staff and how Christ is our Shepherd.
Well that's it for this week. See you next week for week 13.
Merry Christmas to all.

Week 12

So week 12 has seen us busy with reading and with learning about the food pyramid. Tater spent most of this week learning about the major food groups and diagramming the foods we ate. Tater also began reading her first chapter book. We ended the week learning about zoology. As a craft we made a lion. A male lion ad evidenced by its mane.

We've been learning a new Bible Scripture this week. Titus 2:11-15. Both kiddos are learning to recite this Scripture.

Stay tuned for our Christmas week. We are only doing 3 days of school. We are going to take a 2 day break and enjoy family time.

See you next week.

We are back and in full swing

Well hello, its been weeks since I've blogged. I am so sorry about that. Life has been crazy. Good but sad. Happy but trying. But like Paul said...I have learned to be content in all things.
Let's see when I last blogged I told you I was having a hand amputated. And I have had that done. And we are still moving forward. God has been gracious to us. He has allowed us to move steadily on. Teaching is going great. Life is returning to normal and we are still praising God.
Albeit we have moments in which life is not always so sweet. We have had to drop Jr Bug from schooling for a time. While he still learns from educational shows, from life, from reading, and playing games, he is not being taught from me. I've refocused my efforts, but for now, he is still learning and I've learned to be OK with that.
Tater is still schooling. She is also learning about patience and how to press on even when the odds are against you. She has become my champion, and often when its me who should be teaching her, its her who teaches me. I'm blessed beyond measure to have her as my child.
All right so school is back in session. Get ready, get set, let's learn...

Changes

We have had a lot of changes this past few weeks. My service dog was hit and killed. We have had to deal with this loss to our family.
Then we moved to a new home and we are now in a 3 bedroom home and so while we've been moving school has been on hold.
Then last Friday I got sick and had to have an amputation of my hand and wrist. So school is on an indefinite hold until we get settled.
With all that's going on, I'm thankful for the ability to homeschool. There's no place where I can be comfortable saying that we can stop school and just be at home and learn how to readjust to life. But here's the thing... we are still going to learn, we are still going to read, we are going to school, but school may just be learning how to live with each other and how to adjust to mommas needs.

So life will be continued in schooling in a while. Just keep being patient with us in the meantime.

Happy Birthday Tater Tot

Tater Tot you won't know this until you become a mommy but my heart has grown by leaps and bounds because God chose me as your mommy. I'm in awe of you. As you grow, as you change, as you become more of the child that God has intended for you to become, I am grateful that I get to watch, experience, and guide you in the process. My dear girl, I love you. I cherish you. Happy birthday 6th birthday to my Princess Oogie  Woogie.
So in honor of your 6th birthday here are 6 things I love most about you...
1. You are the child of my dreams. Whenever I would dream of my child as a child I dreamed of a girl. And guess what I got her and then some.
2. Your heart has grown by the way you share. You often think of others and I cherish that.
3.  You in your short life has have had to endure a lot. But you don't let that keep you down. You are resilient.
4. You are my smile when I've lost my smile.
5. You challenge me to be a better mom. A better woman, a better friend, a better child of God.
6. You keep me on my knees. While I often say that because you challenge me, I still say that because you of all remind me that without God I am nothing.

So that's it. At least for this year. Happy birthday baby.

Week 3

Oh my, week 3 has flew by, I am a week late on working on this post. So instead of trying to remember all that we have done, I'll just show you pictures of  all of our work. Next week will hopefully be more informative.

Tater showing off what we use water for. We spent some time learning about water, what we use water for, and about the water cycle.
Spelling review
Learning about the water cycle and making a water cycle poster.
Again we have been working hard on what a neighborhood and communities are. Tater made a poster about what she sees in her neighborhood.
Her water cycle poster was so awesome that I had to hang it up!!!
Jr Bug working on the number 3.
Jr Bug is still learning his alphabet...we are on the letter Cc
The first stage in the water cycle is evaporation. Which ironically is a hard process for children to learn because they can't really see it or feel it...so we did an experiment to discover about the evaporation part of the water cycle.
Jr Bug is also learning about circles this week.
